第一篇:傲慢与偏见英文读后感

many people simply regard pride and prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, this book is an illustration of the society at that time. she perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. the characters have their own personalities. mrs. bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. mr. bingley is a friendly young man, but his friend, mr. darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. even the five daughters in bennet family are very different. jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. mary likes reading classic books.kitty doesn't have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, lydia. lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. when i read the book, i can always find the same personalities in the society now. that is why i think this book is indeed the representative of the society in britain in the 18th century.

the family of gentleman in the countryside is jane austen's favourite topic. but this little topic can reflect big problems. it concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in britain in her century. you can find these from the very beginning of this book.

the first sentence in this book is impressive. it reads: “it is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”。 the undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession.

people always think that austen was an expert at telling love stories. in fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. after reading this book, i know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man.

i couldn't forget how eager mrs. bennet wants to marry off her daughters. if you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, i must mention the situation in britain at that time. only the eldest son had the privilege of inheriting his father's possessions. younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. jane austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century.

in “pride and prejudice”, the sister of mr. bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying jane because the bennets don't have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. from this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. the society, the relatives would not allow them to get married.

in modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people's mind. a lot of parents try hard to interfere their children's marriages. education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one's marriage. marry for money is still a big problem in our society. we can't help thinking: can money determine everything?

austen left this problem for us to think. the genius of jane austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. although austen was only 21 when she wrote “pride and prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. the plots in her works are always very natural. the development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. i think the depth of pride and prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.

傲慢与偏见英文读后感

the view of pride and prejudice

pride and prejudice is my favorite novel, which impresses me for a long time. it describes a love story mainly between elisabeth, who i like the best, and a rich and proud man, darcy.

the story began with the arrival of a crowd of rich men who rent a house near the bennet. in a ball, elisabeth gave such a bad impression on darcy's first pride that she refused darcy's first proposal. darcy was so surprised by elisabeth's refusal that he loved elisabeth more deeply. and elisabeth's antipathy made darcy realize his shortcomings. he was not angry about elisabeth's censure, but also he changed his previous proud attitude. during elisabeth's travel in darcy's manor。 darcy was very nice to her uncle and aunt, different from previous proud attitude. when one of elisabeth's sisters ran away with wickham, darcy helped elisabeth find her sister and prevent her sister from the loss of reputation, with nobody knowing that it was he who helped the bennet. so many changes in darcy eliminated elisabeth's prejudice. at last it end with their marriage.

taking the daily life as its material, this story reflected the life and love in a conservative你 and blocking england town. it reflected the author's view about marriage that it is fault to marry for property, money and status and it is also foolish to take these elements into account. in fact darcy's pride manifested the gap between their statuses。 since his pride existed, there is no ideal marriage between elisabeth and darcy. from the different attitudes from darcy's two proposals, it reflected the feminine pursuit of personality independence and right equality, which is a progressive character from the image of elisabeth.

“pride and prejudice,” the feeling after reading

“pride and prejudice” is the famous british writer jane austen masterpiece, the works in daily life for material, the romantic and reality love story.

works of vivid reflects the late eighteenth to well into the nineteenth century in the conservative and block state of the british town life and ways of the world. its social graffiti novel at that time if not only attracts the general reader, real to this day, still give the reader a unique art enjoyment.

first of all, from story to see, elizabeth resourcefulness, have courage, these have vision, have very strong self-respect, and be good at thinking. just then a an unmarried ladies the lady of speaking, this is valuable. and also it is this quality, just make her in love have independent initiative, and led to her and happy family of darcy. in my opinion, elizabeth is worthy of praise.

in the way of the pursuit of love, be sure to a firm belief, not for money, fame, wealth, or any other cause carelessly decided to, want to hold to find true love. if the other party to some of the defect is himself can't stand, but also what can't change it, you should give up the resolute choice; of course should also to cherish each other, not because of some of the others words, they change their decision, happiness to yourself to the business. this is the book want to communicate to the world is very precious words, is also to the heart of the pursuit of love chicken soup.

pride and prejudice

introduction:

as we all know , pride and prejudice is one of jane ausen’s representative works . this book is considered as the treasure of the world liberary and is one of the world’s ten great classics . the author, jane austen, was a british novelist who was born in a small country town. her father was a local vicar. austin didn't go to regular schools, but she read many literary works at her parents' guidance. she started writing about the age of 20, and published six novels. jane was unmarried all her life. for living in a small country town, contacting the medium and small landlords, pastor as well as their quiet and comfortable living environment, there were no significant social contradictions in her works. she described a truthful picture of her world, especially the marriage and love between gentleman and ladies by her meticulous feminine observation. the style of her works is humorous and rich in comic conflicts, so many readers love them. from the late eighteenth to the nineteenth century, vulgar and boring sentimental novels and gothic novels were full in british literary.but jane’s novel iconoclastic showed mid-class of daily life and pastoral scenery in british countryside at that time which had not been capitalist industrial revolution impacted,. although the breadth and depth of the reflection was limited, it played good effect to change the vulgar atmosphere in novels. summary:

why is it called pride and prejudice? elizabeth and darcy’s story can explain. darcy loved elizabeth at first sight at the ball. but the arrogant character caused by the growing environment stopped his initiatively close to elizabeth. elizabeth as anyone else believed he is haughty and stubborn. the more darcy loved elizabeth, the more he would not shown on the surface instead of making apathy. he thought if elizabeth would be proud after knowing he loved her, so his character of pride stopped this happening. elizabeth prejudiced against darcy deeper and deeper. in her eyes, he even became a sinister, hypocritical people.as darcy more loved elizabeth, he finally was unable to restrain to show his love to elizabeth. he certainly thought elizabeth would accept, but he didn't know how about his image in elizabeth’s eyes. so he was surprised when elizabeth refused him. his arrogance had suffered

a blow. but from then on, they began to candid exchange, then misunderstandings gradually eliminated. later, inadvertently knowing that darcy properly handled her sister lydia and wick ham’s elopement, elizabeth’s attitude changed. darcy was not arrogant as others thought. after elizabeth’s rejection,he began to reflect on the self-examination and treated people with more populist. finally, regardless of his aunt’s strong objection and concept of family, darcy proposed to elizabeth again. elizabeth willingly consented. she began to appear her lively side to darcy.

comments:

in this great book , the author amply demonstrates her point love and marriage . but they have great background . at that time , according to the social conditions in britain , a good marriage for a young woman was critical . this phenomenon was closely associated with the british society and the status of women in the society . in the 19th century , women were not well respected compared with the ones in the present society . there was no equality between woman and man . women were considered to be inferior to men in terms of intelligence and capacity . the central life of women was force d to be staying at home , their roles were to deal with the family affairs , such as taking care of the children and serving for the husband .

pride and prejudice are our common weakness and shortcomings. every person is easy to be d riven by his own subjective impression. so it can comment easily to other people under incorrectness, then it will cause misunderstandings between each ..a person’s first impression can affect many things. not he must change, but you should more deeply know about him, then you will have more objective opinion, just the heroine's opinion of darcy in the novel changed because off knowing the people in the world no longer have pr id e and prejudice these two bad behavior customs, this world will more harmonious and friendly.

as far as i considered, people can’t divide people by rich and poor. everyone is equal on every aspect such as character and knowledge. no one can be arrogant because of wealthiness or high status, and also can't be self-abased with economic poverty. this truth relating to our daily l we should not be proud or produce arrogance mood when we make a few achievements,. learning is endless. we should know that there must be many people clever than ourselves. we must think out a way to study better than others. the vanity is caused by

prejudice in the text. one cannot distinguish good and bad just because the beautiful and ugly appearance. elizabeth hated darcy because of darcy's arrogance generating by wealth and wacke r 's rumors. a person’s first impression can affect many things. not he must change, but you should more deeply know about him, then you will have more objective opinion, just be the heroine's opinion of darcy in changed because of knowing. the people in the world no longer have pride and prejudice these two bad behavior customs, this world will more harmonious and friendly.

after finishing reading this novel , i learned a lot of it . first , we can not have prejudice against someone blindly . to understand a people , you can not only through other’s expression about him , you must perceive reality by yourself . second , it’s wrong to get married for the property , money and position , true love is beyond such factors . the last aspect , when we realize the mistake we make , we must acknowledge is bravely and immediately , then make it for the better .

after reading:pride and prejudice

jane austen is this novel’s writer who is a famous writer in the world, and she is famous with her a series of novels.

i still remember the first sentence in this book .it reads :"it is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must in need of a wife ." the undertone is very clear : the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. love seems to be a perpetual theme all the time .and the main story in the book pride and prejudice is not a exception .the writer tells us her views and attitudes about love and marriage in this book.

mrs.bennet had five daughters, and marrying all her daughters was her biggest wish .in a genteel ball, mr. bingley , a friendly young man, also the host, fell in love with jane at first sight.jane was mrs.bennet 's first daughter who was simple, pure and never speaks evil of others. darcy ,who was bingley 's good friend ,a very proud man who seemed to always feel superior, was fond of jane’s sister, elizabeth. but his arrogance behavior and the smear from wickham led elizabeth to misunderstand and was biassed against darcy .

darcy couldn't restrain himself from loving elizabeth ,so he proposed to her.but his attitude was still so arrogant ,elizabeth declined firmly.this hit made darcy noticed the consequence from proud and conceited for the first time. leaving a long letter to explain the things around him and elizabeth, he left her painfully. she felt regret after reading it . not only feel guilty for misunderstanding of darcy , but also ashamed for the behavior of her mother.

elizabeth gradually changed her views of darcy. when darcy met her in his own manor again, his sincere attitude and dignified behavior made her considerably surprised.finally ,they walked out of the frog which was pride and prejudice .it could be called a happy ending.

there are seven different marriages presented in the novel. excluding the gardiner and the lucas, the remaining five marriages contrasts each other to reveal jane’s opinions and thoughts on the subject of marriage.

the marriage between darcy and elizabeth reveals the characteristics which constitutes a successful marriage. one of these characteristics is that the feeling cannot be brought on by appearances, and must gradually develop between the two people as they get to know one another. in the beginning, elizabeth and darcy were distant from each other because of their prejudice. the series of events which they both experienced gave them the opportunity to understand one another and the time to reconcile their feelings for each other. thus, their mutual understanding is the foundation of their relationship and will lead them to a peaceful and lasting marriage. this relationship between elizabeth and darcy reveals the importance of getting to know one’s partner before marrying. the marriage between jane bennet and bingley is also an example of successful marriage. jane austen, through elizabeth, expresses

her opinion of this in the novel.

the last example of a marriage is a of a different nature than the ones mentioned above. the marriage between mr. collins and charlotte is based on economics rather than on love or appearance. it was a common practice during austen’s time for women to marry a husband to save herself from spinsterhood or to gain financial security. however, jane austen viewed this as a type of prostitution and disapproved of it. in pride and prejudice, jane austen dramatizes this form of women inequality and show that women who submits themselves to this type of marriage will have to suffer in tormenting silence as charlotte does.

in pride and prejudice, jane has denounced the elements of marriage and society that she found distasteful. these are the conclusions of her observation of the people in her world. however in her writing, jane has also reflected her own enjoyment in life among these people with and without their faults.

about my opinions:

believe it or not,i have read this story no less times no matter book still is movie. i read it again and again, and the more time i read the story is more than a love story i found.

i like this story for the outstanding characteristic of the characters.

a good book not only can bring you exciting, but also give you some further thinking.from the pride and prejudice,i learn a lot.first,it’s stupid to judge a person by the first impression and always have prejudice on the person who you don’t like.in a word,we can’t judge a person without any further recognise or by other people’s words.just like elizabeth, under wickham’s evil speaking she judge darcy is a pride and masty man and began to have prejudice on him,and kept misunderstanding him.as a result, she was failed to see the merits of darcy.other example,mr.binely persuaded himself run away from falling in love with jane for having heard darcy’s word that june didn’t like him,at least no more deeper than him.this hurt two loved heart.they even almost missed each other. by the way,we can learn that pride sometimes will make you far away from others.you can’t deny that the country people didn’t like darcy very much no matter how rich he.for,he always feels superior to the country people.and, because darcy’s pride,he offended the gir(请你关注Www.haOWoRD.cOM)l he love.

then, after reading this book, i cloudn’t forget how eager mrs.bennet wants to marry off her daughters. why is she so crazy about that?i know it’s because of money. money is very important for our lives. money is required for food, shelter, and clothing, so many things in our life need money. with money, you can make your life more comfortable . you will be able to buy a big house with servants.but, can money determine everything?how could a marriage maintain without love but just for money?from the marriage between charlotte lucas and mr. collins, we found that their marriage totally depended on the position, money, and the background, not the love. most women choose the men who can satisfy their material comforts to be their

husbands at that time, just like charlotte lucas. she married mr. collins although she shared no common interests with him. she didn’t love him while she married him indeed. she persuaded herself to tolerate her husband’s strange and foolish behavior, and her only comfort was her big new house and rich material life. while in my eye, it’s really unfortunate to rest hope on the material comforts for her rest life. although sometimes it’s necessary to consider the property, position, and background in the marriage, it’s stupid to marry just for the money. charlotte lucas married for the possession not love, and on the other hand, mr. collins married her because he needed a wife, not for love, either. their marriage seemed to be necessary but not happy. but how to maintain the marriage without love? fortunately,i don’t know morethem in the end of the book.

第五篇:傲慢与偏见英文读后感

impressions of pride and prejudice

i’ve read a book called pride and prejudice written by jane austen during this winter holidays. jane austen was unmarried all her life. she was born in a mid-class family and was brought up in a comfortable environment with harmonious surroundings, so there’s not too many conflicts in her sight neither in her novel. in pride and prejudice she talked different ideas about love and marriage through different characters.

the novel has told an interesting story: mr. bennet is an english gentleman with an estate in hertfordshire. he has five unmarried daughters but no sons while his inheritance must be inherited by a male, so mrs. bennet has been keen to seek husband for her daughters with great enthusiasm. one day the bennets had a new neighbor called bingley who was a wealthy bachelor and followed be the target of mrs. bennet. at a ball bingley fell in love with jane bennet who’s the oldest daughter of the bennets. bingley’s friend darcy also came to the ball and struck the sights, many girls liked him while he thought all of them couldn’t suit his preference, including elizabeth. mr. darcy always shows others a impression

of pride, having found this elizabeth began to hate mr. darcy. before long darcy fell in love with elizabeth bennett(second oldest daughter in the bennets) because of her lovely behavior, while elizabeth is disgusted by his pride and has a prejudice about him. the official wickham was welcomed by the villagers, and elizabeth also took a shine to him. wickham told elizabeth that his father had been the steward of the darcys. the old darcy had regarded wickham as his own son and showed more love to him than to mr. darcy. after the old darcy died, the property should be inherited by wickham was all deprived by mr. darcy, also was his pastorate. all this increased eli’s prejudice about mr. darcy. at another ball mr. darcy invited elizabeth to dance with him, but eli refused him. eli’s elder male cousin mr. collin came to hertfordshire to inherit the bennett's property by rules, he wanted to marry with one of the bennets. having known that jane was already engaged with mr. bingley, he asked elizabeth to marry him but was seriously rejected. at last he proposed to charllote who was eli’s friend. mr. collins was good at flattering and he got the pastorate with the help of lady catherine. once his

family was invited to rosings garden by lady catherine. elizabeth also went there with mr. collin and charllote. there she met mr. darcy who’s lady catherine’s nephew. later in a garden, sir william told eli about mr. darcy’s latest act of dissuading mr. bingley’s marring jane bennet which caused eli’s exceedingly anger. then mr. darcy came to the collins’ and confessed his love for elizabeth, of course he was rejected impolitely. afterwards mr. darcy wrote a letter to eli in order to remove her misunderstandings of him. elizabeth’s uncle and aunt were also impressed by mr. darcy’s politeness. gradually eli’s prejudice of mr. darcy diappeared. eventually they became couple.

the writer jane austen disclosed mid-class young ladies’ different ideas of marriage and love through describing the different ways in which the bennet girls doing with their marriage problems ,and this undoubtedly shows the writer’s idea about love and marriage: it’s wrong to get married just for property, wealth and status while neither would it be without caring about those elements.jane austen just attached great significance to marriage through her novel by telling people that marriage should

be regarded carefully cause it is not a game you could just enjoy without prudent consideration. she also wanted to deliver information that marriage should be based on real love between the lovers. the female subject elizabeth is a mid-class girl, and darcy proposed to her regardless of the gap between them, but elizabeth refused because of his pride had formed eli’s prejudice. cause darcy’s pride was a suggest of status gap between he and eli, he wouldn’t have the same thought with eli and consequently the ideal marriage. but later darcy’s doings especially his change of the prideful manner eliminated eli’s misunderstandings and prejudice about him, and eli accepted his proposal. those two opposite attitudes reflect female’s pursue of independent personality and equality. i think elizabeth has personality ethic which caused her independent idea about love and marriage and in consequence she earned a happy life. there’re also eli’s sisters’ love stories served as contrasts to the female subject’s ideal marriage, such as charlotte and collin’s life: they do had a luxury life, but there’s noreal love between them and this kind of marriage is surely a tragedy of society.
